Every time I look at this picture I giggle. It was taken after we took our son to his first movie when he was 3 and he didn’t want to leave. Mind you this was after he nearly ran out of the theater as the lights dimmed and clenched to poor Elmo for dear life…I guess the buttery popcorn helped him stay. I said “Come on and take a selfie,” and this is what I got. This was also the day a ton of ideas related to this blog came to mind and a few days later Around the Way Mom was born.
TBH (To be honest for those us who are not familiar with online/text slang) I am not a writer by profession and tend to speak my thoughts rather than write them. Blogging seemed to be a natural fit for me. In reading other blogs I have been drawn to the honesty and candor of the author and being able to relate to them. That is my goal. I won’t hide behind my computer or sunglasses pretending my life is perfect. I am like a lot of other 30-something new mothers who are juggling multiple responsibilities and prioritizing every second of the day to make it all work. With all that happens in my life I make time for myself, my husband, my friends, and doing things I like and want to do. One of them is my bi-weekly nail appointment that will NEVER be canceled!
After almost 5 years of being married, Harold (the hubs) and I decided to take the plunge…we had a baby! We are the proud parents to a cool 4-year old “toddler” as he refers to himself. Both being educators at heart and by profession, the hubs has gone on a journey to pursue obtaining a Master’s Degree, teaching, and now working on his Doctorate. While he spends time away working on school, Tre and I figured out how to make this parenting and “toddler” life work until daddy returns home. Stay tuned for posts about some of those experiences!
